Thank you for your powerful words, Shannon! I try to be as clear eyed as possible and see my parents are full human beings, not one dimensional parental figures. Our relationship has improved over the years. Not by as much as I’d like, but certainly there is progress and new experiences happening in the relationship that didn’t happen before, such as me recently hosting Thanksgiving dinner and having a great time! It’s a journey, for sure, and I’m dedicated to it.
